Elderly woman dies after her residence is treated for bedbugs

For many families in Georgia, the thought of losing a loved one is difficult and saddening, especially when their death comes too quickly without any time to prepare. It is even more devastating when a person's death is the direct result of another person's negligence or mistake.

This was the case in a recent story out of Texas where an elderly woman's family has filed a lawsuit against a pest control company alleging their loved one was wrongfully killed. According to family members, the woman's apartment complex was being treated for bedbugs and all residents were required to leave temporarily. A notification was sent when she was allowed to return home. However, upon her return, she was exposed to elevated temperatures which caused her to pass out. Later on, she was proclaimed deceased, and autopsy reports revealed it was due to hypothermia because of elevated temperatures.

The family claims that negligence and carelessness in the way the pest control company and the woman's landlord handled the extermination, proved to be deadly and resulted in the woman's untimely death. The lawsuit also notes that the woman and her husband had resided at the apartment complex for 30 years. The woman's husband as since passed away as well.

When a family is dealing with the death of their loved one because of another person's actions, they may want to contact an attorney. A professional can provide guidance throughout the legal process to give the victim's family the best possible chance at getting the compensation they deserve.
