Driver flees after causing head-on accident

A Georgia man is dead following a tragic head-on collision with another motor vehicle. Authorities currently do not have many details concerning the driver who apparently caused the wreck, although the investigation is still ongoing and will likely yield further details in the future. Any evidence or information uncovered in that investigation might prove to be useful should the victim's family choose to seek justice for the accident through the civil court system.

The head-on collision occurred shortly after one driver drifted out of his lane and across the yellow line into oncoming traffic. It is still not entirely clear why the driver left his own lane of traffic in the first place; however, the resulting wreck caused the driver of the other vehicle to suffer catastrophic internal injuries. Although he initially survived the wreck, the victim later died at the hospital.

According to witnesses, the wrong-way driver did not suffer serious injuries, if he was even hurt at all. After the wreck, he exited his vehicle and then fled the scene. Police have yet to determine exactly who was driving the wrong-way vehicle, although some time later that day the vehicle's owner reported it stolen, leaving more questions than answers concerning the driver's identity.

Hit-and-run accidents can create difficult situations for family members who survive the victims. Many families hope that the police investigations will locate the liable drivers, after which they can attempt to recover compensation for damages related to the accidents. In the event that drivers are not located, Georgia families are not without options, and they can instead seek compensation for the accidents through the accident victims' insurance companies.
