Multiple family members accused of breaking Georgia drug law

A Georgia family's arrest followed an investigation carried out by two local Georgia sheriff's offices. In total, five people, many of whom are members of the same family, were placed under arrest for supposedly violating criminal drug law. One additional individual was taken into custody for a warrant that was apparently not related to the investigation.

The investigation into the suspected methamphetamine ring was prompted when police initiated a traffic stop involving a 21-year-old man. Already one of the suspects in the investigation, the attending officer allegedly discovered a significant amount of methamphetamine in his vehicle at the time. The 29-year-old passenger who was with him at the time was also arrested.

After the driver's arrest, his 24-year-old brother became a focal point in the investigation. Authorities discovered that the brother was reportedly maintaining two separate residences, one in which he kept a stash of methamphetamine and the other in which he kept his cash. Police intercepted the brother during a suspected drug delivery. The 24 year old's brother's fiance was in the car at the time, and she was also arrested. A subsequent search of a home yielded one additional drug trafficking arrest, while the brothers' father was brought in on a warrant for probation issues.

Several pounds of methamphetamine and thousands of dollars were supposedly collected as evidence during various residential and vehicle searches. Drug law in Georgia can be especially harsh when it comes to consequences for a conviction. Defendants facing these types of drug-related charges should consider being as prepared as possible in order to defend themselves against the allegations as effectively as possible.
