Truck's raised flatbed strikes overpass

Interstate 20 was a traffic disaster yesterday after a truck collided with an overpass earlier in the day. The truck's flatbed was apparently raised, and it struck the overpass. At this point, there is very little information as to why the truck's flatbed was raised. Other cars that were traveling behind the truck were hit by debris, but it does not appear anyone was injured as a result. The truck driver was injured in the wreck and was taken to a hospital.

In the days ahead, the police will investigate this matter and more information will be available as to why the truck's flatbed was raised. But in the meantime, it is important to note that accidents like this unfortunately happen all the time.

We mean that in a broad and general sense, but in fact, accidents just like this -- where a truck collides with an overpass -- do happen with shocking frequency. Either the driver ignores street signs warning of a low overpass that his or her truck simply can't get by without striking, or they simply missed them due to being distracted or otherwise. In either scenario, it was irresponsible of the truck driver.

But in that more general sense that we first mentioned, truck accidents happen all the time that involve an unaware, or sleepy, or otherwise reckless truck driver. When these wrecks happen, the victims' lives will likely never be the same. If negligence on the part of the truck driver can be proven, the victims and their loved ones need to consider legal action.
