1 auto shop employee taken to hospital after a car accident

Most people in Georgia might expect the possibility of being injured in a car wreck while on the road, but not while inside a retail establishment. Shoppers at a local auto repair shop were likely caught off guard when an out-of-control vehicle caused an accident that injured at least one employee. Although damaged, the auto repair shop remained open for business.

The driver who apparently caused the wreck was traveling on a nearby road when she lost control of her vehicle. At that point, police say that the vehicle left the roadway and flipped after driving into a ditch. It landed on its side and began to spin across a commercial parking lot, where it struck two vehicles parked outside of the auto shop. One of those vehicles was thrust into the repair shop.

One employee present at the time of the accident went to the hospital. He did not appear to have any immediate signs of injury, though internal injuries could be possible. Although injured, it is not clear how extensive the injuries of the driver who lost control of her vehicle are. It is unclear if the driver will have to face criminal charges concerning any alleged negligence on her part that might have contributed to the wreck.

In Georgia, even if police do not find any criminal grounds to charge for an accident, an injured victim may still recoup compensation for damages through the civil courts. A personal injury suit can be filed against a negligent driver without any evidence of criminal behavior. The successful navigation of such a claim can be an invaluable tool for victims to utilize when recovering from an injury.
